STORM DUNCAN

poems of the storm

As I come into this world

I leave

A scream

Breath

Do you hear me

STORM DUNCAN

poems of the storm

As I come into this world

I leave

A scream

Breath

Do you hear me

Your light whispered

       To me

The sound of longevity

Beating time, heart racing

       Yes, I answered

your refrain call

Two Two

       One

And we went

       to that place

Where your light whispered

Until we met.

A lonely rain. A sad murmur.

I danced alone

Imagining you.

Happiness suspended

Until you rendered it complete.

I kiss now, with my eyes open

Drinking the sight of you.

Drop by drop

Always thirsty.

Delights of love

Without reservation.

You open me

Petal by petal.

My hands run through your hair

While you sleep.

My subtle influence

on your dreams.

A moon borrowing its

Light from the sun.

Two souls one.

Pure. delicious. Poetic.

A foretaste of Elysium

In our personal garden.

Since I met you.

Love is the Dancer
(Published in “Love Letters to Ukraine”)

I am but an old puppet master
Displaced actor severed from man grip

My vision dimmed still I catch a glance
Of your dance untethered from this lust

Toe by toe both feet lift each soul free
The gravity now your driving force

Beauty exploding without control
In this new role you find yourself cast

Some silent partnership with held rage
Cross this stage I used to call my own

Yet even here in my certain bed
Body stead with time’s humble markings

I lie and still dream of you below
Me to bestow the string from my hands

But each tug only pulls past glory
My great story no longer takes hold

With last sleep grasping my body tight
Start light slowly fading from my face

It was I who lost to love’s answer
And the dancer to which I was tied

This broken string
Once a thing

A little knot
That always fought

Bound so tight
Two hearts flight

Holding together
Our loves feather

Things once right
Sad hearts fight

Smiles dip
Speed the slip

All that past
Undone at last

Why not
Why knot

Last embrace
Just in case

I found a pebble on the beach

I don't know how it got that way

Jagged edges and smooth sides

Nor why it caught my eye

I launched at the site of her

For that moment, she became me.

Orbiting heart and mind

Invisible gravity kept me circling.

Simultaneously satisfying

And dissatisfying.

Unable to get closer

Or escape

An infinite spiral of a silent force

Your light whispered

       To me

The sound of longevity

Beating time, heart racing

       Yes, I answered

I love you more than whispers love silence

She built her temples on the inside

It didn't feel dark until light was introduced

He hid his intelligence behind others opinions
